International Defense Pistol Shooting

IDPA is about learning to use your pistol for self defense in real-world situations. Here, benches are used to simulate "cover".

"Cover" is a must. Here the partitions simulate walls.

Time is critical. Shooters learn to operate their firearms under time pressure. It is not as easy as it appears.

Scores are based on time and accuracy. Inaccurate shots add a time penalty.

We try to simulate real-world situations. The shooter is required to neutralize a target with a one-handed aim.

IDPA provides a great deal of instruction on how to operate firearms in real life situations.

Safety is stressed, and each participant is closely instructed on the safe operation of his or her pistol.

Not all targets are "bad guys". Here the shooter must avoid hitting the hostages.

IDPA is for women too.
